When speaking about autism, it’s often only the difficulties that autistic people face that are spoken about. What aren’t spoken about enough are the positives that autism can bring.
The way that autistic people experience the world means that they often have enhanced skills in various areas. It is important to remember that, just as everyone has their own skills and characteristics, every autistic person will experience different positive features of autism.
The areas that autistic people often have enhanced skills in include creativity, deep focus, observational skills, memory, expertise, integrity, attention to detail, and visual skills. These skills should be understood, embraced, and celebrated, to allow the world to benefit from the many positives that autism can bring.
A neurodiverse world is a better world.
