Autism Dogs Charity is seeking a passionate and experienced Assistance Dog Trainer to join our dedicated Training Team. This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to transform lives through our specialised Autism Assistance Dog Programme, recognised as the most successful of its kind in the UK.
About the Role: As an Assistance Dog Trainer, you will:
- Work primarily from our HQ in Congleton, with travel opportunities.
- Gain hands-on experience with our proven training methods, learning from qualified trainers.
- Be part of the journey to train, assess, and qualify Autism Assistance Dogs to our exceptional standards.
- Receive comprehensive training in autism, safeguarding, and dog-handling techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training assistance dogs in basic obedience, public access, and advanced tasks specific to autism support.
- Conducting temperament assessments and socialisation activities.
- Collaborating with clients to ensure the best dog-handler match and supporting their training.
What We're Looking For:
- A minimum of 1 year of dog training experience.
- A commitment to excellence in canine welfare and client support.
- Enthusiasm for contributing to a high-impact, rewarding programme.
- A valid driving licence and use of your own vehicle to transport dogs (business insurance premium and mileage paid).
- Access is possible for the use of a company vehicle, subject to insurance criteria being met.
