Position: Animal Care Assistant

Location: Wards Ln, Congleton CW12 3LN, United Kingdom

Hours: Part-time 24 hours per week

Salary: £24,960.00 pro rata

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Initial three-month contract, with the opportunity to progress to a permanent role

About Us:

Autism Dogs Charity is dedicated to enhancing the lives of autistic individuals by providing highly trained assistance dogs. Based in Congleton, Cheshire, we are the first and only Assistance Dog Programme accredited by the National Autistic Society. We are also members of Assistance Dogs International and Assistance Dogs UK. Our passionate team is driven by a love for dogs and a commitment to helping autistic people.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a caring, committed, and hardworking individual to join our Animal Care team. The successful candidate will help ensure the health and happiness of our assistance dogs in training by performing a variety of daily cleaning and animal welfare duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all general cleaning duties at the farm (indoor and outdoor).
  • Wash and groom the dogs to maintain their cleanliness and health.
  • Administer first aid to the dogs as needed.
  • Provide affection and social interaction by cuddling and petting the dogs.
  • Ensure the dogs have access to clean water and bedding.
  • Exercise the dogs to maintain their physical health and well-being.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • 1 year of experience working within the animal care industry.
  • Dog handling experience.
  • Reside within a reasonable travelling distance of Congleton.
  • Driver's licence and able to travel.

Desirable:

  • An animal-related qualification.
  • Knowledge about assistance dogs.
  • Understanding of autism.
